General
Are your products Australian made?

Yes, Lock Joint™ is made in Australia, along with our Pathform, Flexi-Form, Heavy Duty Flex Form and KIS Bars.

How does Lock Joint™ help with tree roots?

Movement due to soil and tree roots is inevitable. In footpaths without Lock Joint™, this movement causes vertical displacement between the pavers also known as ‘stepping’ and can cause tripping hazards. Lock Joint’s™ unique curve locks together the adjoining pathway paving sections, allowing for movement without any cracking or unevenness between pavement sections.

What is All in One Lock Joint™?

Our all-in-one expansion joint includes all the benefits of the Pinnable Lock Joint™ for easy installation, plus the addition of built-in compression foam, eliminating the need for sealants and bitumen board.

What is Lock Joint™?

Lock Joint™ is our original, award-winning PVC control joint that can be installed in concrete paths and cycleways to reduce or eliminate cracking, sinking or displacement caused by tree roots and soil movement. It is an excellent solution for reducing maintenance costs and reducing hazards in any pathway.

Is Lock Joint™ cost effective?

Councils across Australia spend hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to maintain and repair our footpaths so they stay safe and hazard free. But, thanks to persistent tree roots and soil movement, those sites are likely to require future maintenance, sparking an expensive, relentless cycle of restoration.

The cost to install the preventative Lock Joint™ product is negligible compared to the amount saved in future repair costs.

Is the rubber capping included with Lock Joint™?

Yes, our unique zip off rubber capping is included with original, pinnable and all-in-one Lock Joint™.

What colours does the capping come in?

You can order Lock Joint™ capping in Black, Crème, Light Grey, Sandstone or Terracotta to match your concrete colour. To view the available colours, visit our Original Lock Joint™, Pinnable Lock Joint™ and All-in-One Lock Joint™ product pages.

Using Lock Joint™
Can Lock Joint™ be cut on site?

Yes, because Lock Joint™ is made from PVC, it can be cut with a hacksaw if required, however, we can also cut to size prior to delivery to save on labour and waste.

How is Lock Joint™ installed?

We have a six step process that makes Lock Joint™ fast and easy to install. Download our installation guide here.

How often should Lock Joint™ be installed?

Lock Joint Australia recommends spacings for Lock Joint™ joints to be a maximum of 1.5 times the width of a path.

For example, a path 2m wide should have spacings no more than 3m. However, where Lock Joint is being installed on sand, the spacings may be increased to a maximum of 2 times the width of the path. These recommendations may alter in different climate and soil conditions. In this case you should consult your engineer or Lock Joint Australia for further advice.

Joints such as saw cuts, or dummy joints, to create control joint are not necessary when Lock Joint is used in a path, as Lock Joint is a contraction/control joint.

What lengths does Lock Joint™ come in?

Lock Joint™ comes in standard lengths of 1.2m, 1.5m, 1.8m, 2.0m, 2.1m, 2.4m, 2.5m, 3.0m, 6.0m, but we will cut to any length for you require.

What sizes does Lock Joint™ come in?

Lock Joint™ comes in heights of 75mm, 100mm, 125mm and 150mm.

About
Do you deliver Australia wide?

Yes, we do. After placing your order with us, we’ll deliver it to your preferred location within 10 business days.

Does Lock Joint™ manufacture the product?

Yes, Lock Joint™ Australia is the exclusive manufacturer of Original, Pinnable and All-in-One Lock Joint™. They are produced in our factory here in Australia.

Has Lock Joint™ been independently tested?

Yes, Nata Certified engineers have independently tested Lock Joint™. Their results show that adjoining panels using Pinnable Lock Joint™ moved only 0.6mm when subjected to vertical displacement of 110mm

In similar tests, at a vertical displacement of 108mm, pathway joints using our competitors’ products caused sections to move in excess of 4mm. That’s a measurable 80% decrease in movement using Lock Joint.

You can view our test results here.

How does the design work?

Its patented sinusoidal (curved) design provides an even distribution of weight and locks together the adjoining pathway paving sections, allowing for movement without any cracking or unevenness between pavement sections. The included rubber capping seals the joint, preventing sand from entering whilst also prohibiting weed growth.

How long will Lock Joint™ last for?

While is depends on where it is installed and how it is installed, Lock Joint™ has been shown to outlast the lifetime of the pathway.

How was Lock Joint™ developed?

Lock Joint™ is the brainchild of a local concreter who noticed the constant maintenance required on footpaths, the unattractive look of traditional expansion joints and the slow and cumbersome process by which they were installed.

Is Lock Joint™ a control joint?

Yes. Our original Lock Joint™ and Pinnable Lock Joint™ designs are control joints, while our All-in-One Lock Joint shares the same design and includes a built in compression foam and is used as an expansion joint.

Is Lock Joint™ an expansion joint?

Of the 3 Lock Joint designs, our All-in-One Lock Joint™ includes a built in compression foam and is used as an expansion joint.
